Was land once bush?

Dear Echo News,

Regarding S Strapps’ letter Rules are lacking in Kalamunda regarding the City of Kalamunda’s decision to sell land at Urch and McRae roads.

I wonder if the land that they are living on was once a bush block ?

Serve yourself Coles fury

Dear Echo News,

Kalamunda Coles increasingly understaffs its checkouts.

Its decision to open just one staffed checkout today caused a queue of six unhappy shoppers today, all with full trolleys.

These customers, most of whom were elderly with one relying on carer support, were further infuriated by the fact the self-serve area was staffed by three employees.

It appears that the ‘serve-yourself’ system is favoured by Coles management.

However, many customers find the constant glitches, combined with the lack of personal service, frustrating and unpleasant.

The system is also inaccessible to some people with disabilities and to many older customers who do not appreciate the brisk, impersonal, and confusing process.

Unfortunately, the staff on the shop floor bear the brunt of frustrated shoppers’ wrath.

It’s high time the Coles executive allocated some of its recent $1.1 billion profit to genuinely serving its customers better.

Ian is such a worthy recipient of this recognition and offers sage advice in his words.

K Scott:I hope the recent issues with drainage will be bought up as well because I’m sure all the flooding we’re seeing due to new developments won’t be any good for the vines.

In response to Record submissions about Alcoa:

C Mathews:

When Alcoa contributes to the power supplies of WA with the help of Alinta, it’s hard to think the government would want them shut down. It’s all in the name of money and politics.
