AUSTRALIAN Baroque is set to grace the newly restored Midland Junction Arts Centre (MJAC) with a series of special events, including the headline performance, Elysian Harmonies on Friday, September 6 at 7.00 pm.
This landmark event marks the first time that the renowned ensemble will perform in Midland, coinciding with the recent re-opening of the centre’s performance space following extensive heritage restoration.
Elysian Harmonies promises to be an evening of exquisite music, featuring the works of Johann Sebastian Bach, Georg Philipp Telemann, Johann Georg Pisendel - Vivaldi's distinguished student based in Dresden, and Francoeur le Cadet, Master of Music to King Louis XV.
In addition there will also be a presentation of Baroque Babies, a delightful program designed specifically for the youngest listeners.
This concert will feature beautiful baroque music in a relaxed and comfortable environment, ideal for children aged 0-2 and their parents, grandparents, and carers and emphasises the importance of music in early childhood development.
The auditorium will include space for prams, ensuring a welcoming experience for all. Baroque Babies is a free event, supported by the City of Swan.
Further enriching the Midland community, Australian Baroque, with the support of the City of Swan, will offer a free masterclass featuring highly renowned guest cellist and music educator from London, Kinga Gaborjani.
This open masterclass provides a unique opportunity for musicians and music enthusiasts to learn from one of the finest Baroque interpreters of our time.
Audience members are warmly invited to attend and observe this enriching educational experience, which is offered free of charge thanks to the City of Swan's support.
Whether attending Elysian Harmonies, Baroque Babies, or the masterclass with Kinga Gaborjani, this is a rare opportunity to engage with world-class music in Midland’s newly rejuvenated cultural hub.
Musicians performing for Elysian Harmonies and Baroque Babies are Dr Geoffrey Lancaster harpsichord, Kinga Gaborjani cello, Andy Skinner flute and Helen Kruger violin.
