THE Mount Helena Voluntary Bush Fire Brigade will once again escort Santa and his helpful elves around Mount Helena on Christmas Day, delivering presents to children in the area.
As they have done for more than 50 years, Santa and his elves will start their journey from the fire station in Chidlow Street around 7.30am, with the aim of visiting all participating homes by around 12pm.
Organisers are asking participating parents to please deliver their presents to Mount Helena Vibe during business hours from Monday, December 8 until Monday, December 22.
On the day people are asked to listen out for Christmas songs, music and occasional siren bursts and watch out for the fire trucks.
You can meet Santa and the crew at your front gate or at the start of your property driveway, as he won’t be able to go up driveways.
Elf Robin said as they have a long way to travel and a lot of people to visit, they can’t wait too long if children are not at the gate or at the start of the property driveway to receive their presents.
“For safety reasons, please ensure that you and your children stand back from the vehicles as Santa is happy to walk to your gate or driveway.”
As the fire trucks have limited space for storage, items should be of a size that can be easily handled by Santa and team.
Organisers are asking for presents to be clearly wrapped and labelled with each child’s name and address and where possible, for parents to write the street number instead of the lot number.
