SWAN Harmony Choir’s Spring concert will take place in Darlington on Sunday, November 10.
The choir was established in 1997 and rehearses weekly in the old Midland courthouse.
Choir member Delia Richardson said the group had an expansive repertoire, ranging from church hymns to today’s popular hits.
“We have a varied repertoire from Billie Eilish to the Eagles, sea shanties, some sacred music and traditional hymns,” she said.
Some of the songs included in this year’s repertoire are Walking in Memphis, Always on my Mind, Someday, and No Time to Die.
The group is comprised of two troupes: the main choir and the Cygnets, a smaller group of 14 members compared to the main choir’s 40. Both groups perform free and low-cost concerts and singing workshops in the local community throughout the year, and have performed at events including the Darlington arts festival, Shire of Mundaring Anzac Day service, and the official re-opening of the City of Swan library.
Their spring concert, performed under the watchful eye of music director Richard Braham, will treat audiences to an afternoon full of joy, fun, and community spirit through the choir’s beautiful renditions of both classic pieces and current musical favourites.
Delia said audiences were in for a treat.
“The attraction of listening to a choral performance is in the very name of the choir: it is the harmony.
Swan Harmony choir has four parts: soprano, alto, tenor and basses. Choirmaster, Richard Braham, excels in harmonising all four parts to evoke emotions, create tensions and add depth to musical compositions,” she said.
“People attending the concert will find the harmony very uplifting and hopefully enjoy seeing how the four different parts of the choir interact.”
The concert will be held in the Darlington Hall from 3pm to 5pm and will be followed by afternoon tea for audience members.
