CONSTRUCTION on a new secondary school in the fast-growing suburb of Brabham has officially started, thanks to state government funding.
The $144 million Brabham Senior High School will accommodate 1000 students and be delivered in two stages, with the first ready for day one of school in 2028.
Stage 1 will feature contemporary classrooms, administration and student services, a resource centre and computer science teaching area, as well as hard courts, landscaping, and parking.
Construction will continue for stage 2, delivering additional specialist facilities including an education support centre for up to 45 students, health and physical education facilities, materials technology, science and food technology spaces, and a cafeteria.
The school oval will be a shared-use public open space, creating a valuable community asset that both students and the community can enjoy.
The school is being built by PS Structures Pty Ltd and was designed by Taylor Robinson Chaney Broderick Architects.
Education Minister Sabine Winton said the Cook Labor government was committed to making sure Western Australian students have access to high-quality learning environments, no matter where they live.
“Every new school represents an investment in our young people, in families, and in the future of our state,” she said.
“From general classrooms to specialist education facilities, this new school will provide the spaces that students need to explore their interests and build skills.
“I am pleased to see construction underway and look forward to welcoming the school’s first year 7 students in 2028.”
West Swan MLA Rita Saffioti said this was an incredibly exciting milestone for families across Brabham and Henley Brook.
“A new local high school close to public transport will make a real difference for students and parents as the community continues to grow,” she said.
“It will give more young people the opportunity to learn closer to home and remain connected to their local community.
“It’s fantastic to see construction underway, and I look forward to watching the school take shape.”
