A BRABHAM father’s dream has come true after he published his first book – Honey the bee goes to caterpillar university.
The children’s book was written by Aaron Raspa, a married father of two who works at the University of Western Australia.
Honey the bee goes to caterpillar university is drawn from Mr Raspa’s enjoyment of books such as the Wizard of Oz and Alice in Wonderland, and he describes his book as a fusion between the two – only with more caterpillars.
“For decades, I’ve been captivated by the concept of a cocoon as a vessel that transports caterpillars to another dimension – the Pupae Plane,” he said.
“There, they embark on a transformative journey of self-discovery before earning their wings.”
Mr Raspa said his motivation behind writing the book was his late father, and has plans for a sequel and a prequel, with the prequel already being worked on.
“His sudden passing just after Easter motivated me to create this book as a way to honour and acknowledge him in print,” he said.
He said the book is now available online through Amazon and he is seeking to make it available at independent bookstores by Christmas.
