Man charged over serious Midland incident

MIDLAND detectives have charged a 32-year-old man as a result of their investigation into a serious incident that occurred in Midland on Wednesday, March 26.

About 8.05pm, the victim – a 41-year-old man – was in the carpark of a shopping centre located on Great Eastern Highway in Midland when the accused allegedly exited a vehicle armed with a machete.

It will be alleged the 32-year-old man struck the victim several times with the weapon.

The victim sustained serious injuries and was conveyed by ambulance to Royal Perth Hospital.

The 32-year-old man from Midvale has been charged with intent to cause grievous bodily harm or prevent arrest, wounded or caused grievous bodily harm, stealing a motor vehicle and no authority to drive.

His bail was refused, and he appeared before the Midland Magistrates Court on Friday, March 28 where he was remanded in custody until May 2.

Ellenbrook man indecent assault arrest

POLICE have charged a 23-year-old Ellenbrook man as a result of an investigation into an indecent assault that occurred in East Victoria Park on Friday, March 21.

Police will allege that the man approached a woman in her 20s, unknown to him, inside a local shopping centre, and indecently assaulted her.

A public appeal for information was released by Crime Stoppers and the man was identified after several calls were received, and with assistance from the shopping centre security team.

He was located by police at a public reserve in East Victoria Park on Tuesday, April 1.

Inquiries identified the man was wanted for questioning for a number of outstanding serious matters, including an incident on March 20  where he allegedly sprayed aerosol into the face of a staff member at a service station in Northbridge.

The man was arrested and taken into custody after a brief stand-off with police following reports he was seen earlier in possession of a knife.

The Ellenbrook man has been charged with unlawful and indecent assault, unlawful wounding, being armed in a way that may cause fear,  stealing, disorderly behaviour in a public place and trespass.

His bail was refused, and he was remanded in custody and appeared in Perth Magistrates Court on April 11 where he was remanded to reappear at the Perth Magistrates Court on May 14 to enter a plea on the charges.

Aveley stealing and assault arrests

DETECTIVES from the rapid apprehension squad have charged two males in relation to two incidents that occurred at a liquor store on Gnangara Road in Aveley in March.

It will be alleged that about 10.15pm on Wednesday, March 19, the two males attempted to force entry to the liquor store by kicking and damaging the glass doors.

They failed to gain entry to the store and left the scene.

It will be further alleged they then approached a vehicle parked on the driveway of a nearby residence where they stole a set of black and white fluffy dice from the vehicle, before leaving the area.

About 8.30pm Thursday, March 20, it will be alleged the same two males returned to the same liquor store in Aveley, wearing balaclavas and gloves.

They entered the store and allegedly stole a carton of alcohol, and when confronted by two staff members, left the store.

It will be further alleged the two males returned a short time later, where they punched and kicked the two staff members – a 25-year-old man and a 54-year-old man.

The 25-year-old staff member was struck with a glass canister, causing a laceration to his head which later required medical attention.

The accused then allegedly damaged merchandise in the store before leaving with stolen alcohol.

A 20-year-old man from Ellenbrook has been charged with attempted aggravated burglary with intent, stealing, aggravated armed robbery and wilfully destroy evidence.

He appeared before the Perth Magistrates Court on Saturday, April 19 where he was granted bail with conditions and a $10,000 personal undertaking and $10,000 surety.

He is listed to attend Midland Magistrates Court on May 16 for legal advice.

A 17-year-old male has been charged with attempted aggravated burglary with intent, stealing and aggravated armed robbery.
