
KIARA police have charged a man with several offences following an incident in Bassendean on Friday, August 1.
About 2.35pm, police received reports of a disturbance inside a liquor store on Railway Parade.
It will be alleged the man was denied service and became aggressive towards staff, throwing items around the store and at two staff members who sustained minor injuries as a result.
It will be further alleged the man armed himself with a glass wine bottle and made a number of threats before throwing it into display shelving causing damage.
An emergency duress alarm was activated inside the store and a police unit arrived on scene minutes later, locating the man nearby.
It will be further alleged whilst attempting to arrest the man, a male senior constable was struck in the face multiple times.
A taser was deployed and the man was taken into custody.
The officer was conveyed to St John of God Hospital in Midland for treatment of facial injuries, including a suspected broken nose and concussion, but has since been discharged.
A 28-year-old male from Bassendean has been charged with one count of assault a public officer, two counts of assault a retail worker and one count each of criminal damage, being armed in a way to cause fear, and failing to leave a licensed premises when required to do so.
The man has been remanded in custody and is next due to appear before the Perth Magistrates Court on Friday, August 29.
MIDLAND detectives are seeking the public’s assistance with a burglary investigation in Forrestfield on Tuesday, June 24.
About 12.00am, the 78-year-old male occupant (victim) was awoken by two masked, armed intruders standing by his bedside who demanded cash and property.
During the incident, it will be alleged, one of the males entered a shed and damaged the victim’s speedway sprint car by pouring paint into the engine.
The males stole a quantity of Australian dollar one and two cent coins, liquor and a mobile phone.
The victim was made to lay face down on his stomach in a back room and count to fifty before both men fled the scene.
The two males are described as: Person 1: About 180cm tall, of large build, with tanned skin and spoke with a foreign accent.
He was armed with a machete, wearing a balaclava and blue gloves, a black jumper with the hoodie on, black pants and wore black trainers.
Person 2: About 170cm tall, of medium to slim build, with tanned skin and spoke with a foreign accent.
He was armed with a tomahawk, wearing a balaclava and blue and red gloves, a black jumper, black pants and wore black and silver trainers.

MAJOR crash investigation officers are investigating a fatal crash that occurred in Wundowie on Thursday, August 14.
About 10.35am, a white Toyota Prado sedan and a white Mazda hatchback were involved in a collision at the intersection of Great Eastern Highway and Hawke Avenue.
The 95-year-old female driver of the Mazda died from her injuries at the scene.
Major Crash investigators are conducting an examination of the scene and are appealing for anyone with information, or dashcam, mobile phone or CCTV footage to come forward.
