
KALAMUNDA Strike Force Vulcan officers have charged a 19-year-old man in relation to a bushfire that occurred in Kalamunda on Thursday, January 1.
It will be alleged about 12.20am, the man threw a firecracker into dry grass in bushland located on Temby Avenue, which started a bushfire that quickly gained in intensity.
The bushfire escalated rapidly, requiring the attendance of multiple DFES firefighting crews and police resources, including the deployment of a Helitak aerial firefighting appliance to assist in extinguishment.
More than two thousand homes in the area lost power and homes and lives were threatened.
The fire has consumed more than 25ha of native bushland and coninued burning for a number of days..
The 19-year-old Kalamunda man Luke Joseph Grguric has been charged with one count of breach of duty and appeared before the Perth Magistrates Court on January 1 where he was granted bail to reappear on January 29.
SERIOUS and organised crime division detectives have charged a 39-year-old male after an incident in Beechboro on Thursday, December 25.
It will be alleged about 4.40am, the accused, driving a vehicle stolen during a burglary in Darch on December 24, deliberately drove the vehicle into the front glass doors and wall of a cafe in Beechboro causing extensive damage to the building.
An unmarked police vehicle patrolling the area witnessed the incident and attempted to stop the vehicle resulting in a pursuit which ended in Kelly Place, Noranda where the accused was taken into custody.
The 39-year-old man Joshua Ross McDonald from Bluff Point appeared before the Perth Magistrates Court on December 26, charged with criminal damage or destruction of property, stealing a motor vehicle, reckless driving to escape pursuit by police and driver of a vehicle failed to comply with a direction to stop (circumstance of aggravation).
He was remanded to appear in the Midland Magistrate’s Court on January 30.

Emergency services were advised about 4.50pm of a large fire in bushland located at Boya Quarry Reserve.
Department of Fire and Emergency Services attended and extinguished the fire before any property was damaged.

About 10.25am, a black Honda Accord sedan was travelling in an easterly direction on Great Southern Highway when the vehicle left the road and struck a tree.
The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, a 39-year-old man, sustained life-threatening injuries and died at the scene.

OFFICERS from the major crash investigation section are seeking the public’s assistance for information following a serious crash that occurred in Maida Vale on Thursday, December 25.
About 7.40pm, a blue Kia Stonic station sedan and a white Toyota Rav4 collided at the roundabout of Watsonia Road and Ridge Hill Road.
The 67-year-old male driver of the Toyota and a 64-year-old female passenger, as well as the 24-year old female driver of the Kia, all sustained critical injuries in the crash and were conveyed by ambulance to Royal Perth Hospital for medical treatment.

ROAD policing group north are investigating a serious crash that occurred in Midland on Saturday, January 3.
About 12.45pm, a blue Toyota Yaris sedan was travelling southbound on Lloyd Street, when it crossed the intersection of Clayton Street and collided with a traffic control light.
Emergency services attended the scene.
The 81-year-old female driver and sole occupant of the Toyota Yaris was conveyed to St John of God Midland Hospital for medical treatment.
