Ellenbrook man on child exploitation charges dies before court hearing and homicide police investigate a death in York.

HOMICIDE squad detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 76-year-old man in York last Sunday.

About 8am on Sunday morning, St John WA advised WA Police Force they were responding to a report of a deceased man at a home on Avon Terrace.

Detectives from the Homicide Squad are investigating the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.

A 63-year-old man, known to the victim, is assisting police with inquiries.

Meanwhile, an Ellenbrook man who was due to appear before the Midland Magistrates Court on Tuesday, September 17 died suddenly on Monday in non-suspicious circumstances.

WA Police said child exploitation operations squad detectives had charged the 56-year-old man, a former private school principal, as a result of their investigation into child exploitation material offences.

On Tuesday, August 27, child exploitation operations squad detectives executed a search warrant at the man’s Ellenbrook home where they seized electronic devices allegedly belonging to the man.

Police alleged a forensic triage of some of the devices seized identified child exploitation material on them.

The offences occurred while the man was a principal of a college within the Perth metropolitan area.

At this time there is no evidence that any student of the college was depicted in the child exploitation material.

The man had been charged with one count of possessing child exploitation material, one count of fail to obey and unlawful possession of a controlled or prescription drug.
