Some of our unsung local heroes are spending the month of December getting their hands dirty – helping to raise much needed funds for the Perth Children’s Hospital Foundation.
Participants in the 17th annual Perth Firefighter’s Calendar have been washing customer windscreens at Muzz Buzz stores in recent weeks, selling the calendar and collecting donations, with funds raised going to the world class burns service at PCH.
Nathan Holder and Scott Littlefair are among the firefighters who spent close to 12 months preparing for the photo shoot and on-stage calendar launch, and recently spent time washing windows and chatting with customers in Ellenbrook last week.
Thirty-six-year-old Nathan – who graces the front cover of the calendar – said he didn’t hesitate to take part.
“The calendar raises funds for research and equipment for WA kids and their families who are affected by burn injuries, and having three young kids myself I felt it was a great opportunity to give something back.”
Scott said the photoshoot was an opportunity to not only have a bit of fun, but to support WA children.
“We see regularly the effects burns and other accidents have on people, and in particular children, so anything we can do to support the amazing team at PCH is time well spent.
“It’s a great experience and heartwarming to know you have a direct effect on the wellbeing of the kids, and even more so when you have friends who have benefited from what we do.”
Muzz Buzz executive chairman Warren Reynolds said he was thrilled to once again support such a worthy cause.
“Nathan, Scott, and the entire team are not only admirable in their careers, but to also give up their time to participate in the Perth Firefighter’s calendar to raise money for some of our most vulnerable children – you can’t get much more admirable than that.
“We’re hoping to beat last year’s fundraising total, which was around $12,000.”
The Perth Firefighters Calendar has generated more than $1.6 million for the Perth Children’s Hospital Foundation since 2008.
The firefighters appeared at select Muzz Buzz stores throughout December, including in High Wycombe on Monday, December 18, and Midland on Thursday, December 21.
