DURING a visit to Scotland, Gidgegannup resident Jan Pittman took along a stack of baby clothes made by Gidgegannup CWA members, which were given to a Grantown-on-Spey resident who knits for a nearby hospital.
Ms Pittman, who has won prizes for her paintings and photography, said during the month she spent in Scotland she took her late partner Dave Reid’s ashes across to scatter.
“He was a long-time resident of Gidgegannup, and a small business owner (Reid’s Plant Hire),’’ she said.
“While I was there I visited June Smith, the mother of Rob Smith, of Rob’s Repairs, formerly of Gidge Rural, whose late husband Wattie had attended the same school as Dave in a little village called Rothiemay, via Huntly.
“June lives in Grantown-on-Spey and she knits baby clothes for a local hospital.
“I asked the Gidgegannup CWA ladies if they would like to knit some baby clothes for me to take across to her (they all know Rob and Helen from Gidge Rural) and I was absolutely astonished at their response, I had half a suitcase full to take across.
“So my son (who was travelling with me) and I visited her for afternoon tea and she was delighted with the little bonnets, jackets, booties, etc.’’
