THIS year the funds raised by the Glen Fest musical festival went to the Trillion Trees organisation in Woodbridge.
Past recipients of funds raised at Glen Fest have been Variety Children’s Charity and Possum Valley Animal Sanctuary.
The musical festival attracted a good crowd who enjoyed the food, the atmosphere and the great bands which performed on the day.
The festival received support from the Shire of Mundaring.
Trillion Trees Australia was founded as part of a world-wide movement, led by the world’s first ‘global environmentalist’ Richard St Barbe Baker, that started in 1922 as Men of the Trees.
The group has a focus on restoring disappearing and threatened ecosystems using its tree planting projects to combat salinity and soil erosion, restore biodiversity and provide habitat for native wildlife.
In 2019, the Men of the Trees became Trillion Trees Australia with the new name championed by their late president Thom Scott, who inspired people to show up, join in and make change happen.
They recognise Barrie Oldfield as the founder of Men of the Trees, now Trillion Trees Australian in Western Australia and acknowledge a gift of land from the Fyfe family, which enabled the group to establish and grow their homebase in Hazelmere.
