Greenmount crash on Christmas Day

WA Police continue appealing for information about a Christmas Day crash on Great Eastern Highway in Greenmount.

WA Police are continuing to appeal for information after a Christmas day crash on Great Eastern Highway, near Old York Road, left five passengers with serious injuries.

Officers from the major crash investigation section are seeking information regarding a serious crash that occurred in Greenmount  about 4.15pm.

WA Police said a grey Toyota Corolla hatchback and a silver Hyundai Santa Fe station wagon collided, resulting in two women who were passengers, being conveyed by ambulance to Royal Perth Hospital with critical injuries.

The 48-year-old Hyundai Santa Fe driver and two other child passengers, aged 17 and 10, were conveyed to hospital with serious injuries.

The 46-year-old male Toyota Corolla driver was reported to have sustained minor injuries.

Shire of Mundaring President Paige McNeil said Scott Street had long been recognised as a dangerous intersection in the shire.

“Just before Christmas I met with federal opposition assistant Infrastructure and Transport spokesperson Tony Pasin and we witnessed three near misses within 10 minutes during our meeting on site,” she said.

“Mundaring shire council have also written to Transport Minister Rita Saffioti.

“We need immediate action to fix this treacherous stretch of Great Eastern Highway.

“I continue to call on all candidates for the seat of Bullwinkel for urgent federal black spot funding to make Scott Street safer.”

Then Call for signs in Greenmount continues reported a fatal crash at the end of November and revealed Main Roads planned to review speed limits during the first quarter of 2025.
