FELINE parents and potential feline owners in the Shire of Mundaring are invited to join renowned cat behaviour expert Dr Heather Crawford for a ‘pawsitively’ fun adventure discovering cats, wildlife, and harmony in one purr-fect event.
Shire of Mundaring will host Dr Crawford for a happy cats and wildlife workshop on Saturday, October 28 from 9.30am to 11.30am in the civic area.
The free workshop will divulge intriguing facts about cats with attendees gaining insights into creating a stimulating environment at home to ensure your cat enjoys a long, healthy, and contented life.
Shire President James Martin said 1550 cats were registered in the shire.
“Embracing responsible cat ownership not only safeguards your beloved companion but also plays a vital role in preserving our native wildlife,” he said.
“Free roaming cats often fall victim to traumatic mishaps such as injuries from accidents or altercations with other animals, but they also pose a threat to our local wildlife, turning neighbouring properties into their hunting grounds or litter boxes, sparking complaints to the Shire.
“This workshop will explore tailored cat containment solutions, from catios to enclosures and fence toppers, and empower you to keep your cat safe and happy within your property. In turn, it will also allow residents to enjoy the native wildlife in their gardens.”
Morning tea will also be provided. Registration for this event is essential via Eventbrite.
