Hazmat fire in Midvale and Bellevue

A factory fire in Midvale and Bellevue was confirmed by the Department of Fire and Emergency Services to contain hazardous material.

LAST Tuesday emergency services were called to attend a factory fire at the Shire of Mundaring and the City of Swan which was confirmed to contain hazardous material.

Beaconsfield Avenue was closed due to the hazmat fire.

At about 10am in the morning, Department of Fire and Emergency Services reported the smoke was blowing in a south westerly direction towards Great Eastern Highway and Roe Highway.

DFES advised people in the area to stay indoors, keep doors and windows closed and to avoid the smoke.

Later in the afternoon, at about 12.30pm, DFES downgraded the alert as the fire was contained and controlled.

DFES advised people in the area were no longer going to be impacted by the smoke, but Beaconsfield Avenue remained closed.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
