A HELENA Valley man who has raised more than $1 million for children’s charity Variety WA is preparing to take part in this year’s Creative Car Cruise.
Jeff Galloway will join the four-day Great Southern Cruise XV from Thursday, March 5 to Sunday, March 8, travelling through regional Western Australia to raise funds and support local communities.
Mr Galloway said his involvement with Variety WA began more than 30 years ago.
“In 1992, I sponsored a Bash car - an old Holden EK station wagon,” he said.
“The following year, I was invited to join the crew, and I’ve been involved ever since.”
Over the years, Mr Galloway has taken part in numerous fundraising events, including the Variety Bash, 4WD challenges and Creative Car Cruises.
“Overall, I’ve completed 17 Bashes, 10 4WD events and seven Creative Car Cruises,” he said.
“I’d estimate we have raised over $1 million over the various events we have taken part in.”
This year, Mr Galloway will drive his 2017 Ford Mustang GT alongside his daughter, Kym Galloway, continuing a strong family involvement in the charity.
“I continue to take part in these events because I’ve supported Variety and the kids of Western Australia since 1992,” he said.
“I believe in giving back to a community that has supported me for many years.”
The Creative Car Cruise, organised by Variety WA, sees participants travel through regional towns while raising funds to support children and families in need.
