Hills classical music

Perth Hills will be treated to an afternoon of classical music as The Wendling Quartet tunes up for August 25.
August 22, 2024

THIS weekend, the Perth hills are alive with the sound of classical chamber music. The Wendling Quartet, a classical group will be performing a selection of classical and early Romantic period quartets for flute, viola, violin and cello.

The group is comprised of Emily Gunson on flute, Zak Rowntree on violin, Daniel Schmitt on viola, and Isaac Davis on cello, all strings performers from the Western Australian Symphony Orchestra.

Ms Gunson said the program would keep audiences on the edge of their seats with brilliant, sparkling fast movements, nicely contrasting with an expressive, dramatic Adagio movement.

The afternoon’s program features music from Mozart, Friedrich Hartmann Graf, Anton Reicha, and the group’s namesake Johann Wendling.

Each item on the program will be introduced by John Hardy, and afternoon tea will be served to audiences at interval, including freshly baked scones.

The concert will be held in the historic St Cuthbert’s Anglican Church in Darlington on Sunday, August 25. The first performance commences at 3pm.

Admission is $40, and tickets will be sold in door sales on the day if not sold out prior, although booking ahead is recommended to avoid disappointment.

All bookings and queries, call Emily on 9574 1591.
