LONGTIME Hills playwright and author Suzanne Ingelbrecht is set to host one final book launch this weekend before packing her bags and bidding farewell to Western Australia.

Dr Ingelbrecht, who has been a writer of plays, books, essays and more, for over 40 years, will celebrate the release of ‘Tumblagooda: The story of a strange found thing’ on Saturday, November 15 at the KSP Writers’ Centre, Greenmount.

The following Sunday, November 23 she will be one of 14 guest presenters at the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (WA) Young Readers Day Out at the State Library.

Dr Ingelbrecht, who lived in Darlington for 18 years, has been writing, entertaining and sharing her stories with others since she was nine years old.

“It’s something meaningful that I can do,” she said.

‘Tumblagooda: the story of a strange found thing’ is the final instalment of the Tumblagooda Trilogy published by Dragonfly Publishing.

Set in a fictionalised Kalbarri in 1979, middle-grade readers will rejoin George and her best friend Mac as they again search for the mysterious creature they call Tumblagooda.

Their adventures lead to an old crayfishing camp on the Abrolhos Islands and encounters with a clever Arctic tern and shady treasure hunters, where the kids’ courage and cleverness are tested at every turn.

“It’s about respecting the earth: that’s what the Tumblagooda series is about,” Dr Ingelbrecht said.

“Respecting the earth and our ancient land and giving kids the sense of what it’s like to be curious and adventurous.”

Dr Ingelbrecht, who volunteers at the Kaarakin Black Cockatoo Rescue Centre in Martin, will also soon take flight herself.

She plans to hit the road and head east in her van, a white custom-made Toyota HiAce Commuter van affectionately known as “Van Go”.

The free book launch on Saturday, November 15 at the KSP Writers’ Centre will also include snacks and light refreshments.

The book is now available in paperback from select Australian retailers and online booksellers for $17.99 or can be purchased at the publisher's website.
