Kalamunda family open day willhighlight bushfire preparedness

The Kalamunda Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade and the Kalamunda State Emergency Service are holding a free open day to educate residents on being bushfire prepared.

THE Kalamunda Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade (BFB) and Kalamunda State Emergency Service (SES) are holding a free open day on Saturday, November 15 from 10am to 2pm.

All are welcome to come along and see how an operational fire station and SES unit work.

It is your chance to meet the local bush fire brigade and SES crews who will be offering station tours and appliance ‘show and tells’, as well as live demonstrations, including ‘burnover drills’.

Family fun activities include colouring-in competitions, dressing up as a firey, and rides in the fire trucks.

The event also incorporates a Bushfire Ready Workshop and Education Day offering advice on how to prepare your home and property for bushfire, including how to set up a 'My Bushfire Plan'.

The City of Kalamunda community preparedness team will also be in attendance and a sausage sizzle, coffee van and drinks will be available. page

The open day is at the BFB station and SES unit at 20 Raymond Rd, Walliston.
