OVER the past few months, schoolgirl and charity worker Alexis Perovic (13) has been working with RSPCA Midland to donate bedding, towels, blankets, toys, bowls and pet food to support animals in need.
Ms Perovic said she was keen to share her mission and learn more about the organisation’s vital work.
After a recent meeting with RSPCA WA chief development officer Carol Morfitt, Ms Perovic said her resolve to continue advocating for animal welfare and supporting the RSPCA was even stronger.
Ms Perovic’ mother Illona Perovic said her daughter’s fundraising platform Kindness Counts championed the importance of everyday kindness, emotional wellbeing, and connection.
“Through her Kindness Counts website, Alexis’ mission is to inspire young people to choose kindness, support one another and help build communities where everyone feels seen, valued, and included,” Mrs Perovic said.
“As a junior Miss Australia Galaxy national finalist, Ms Perovic will join the inaugural junior finalist group in May when she travels to Sydney to represent Western Australia.
“By taking part, she aims to secure a place on the international stage in San Antonio, Texas, where she hopes to carry her message of kindness and youth empowerment even further.”
Founded in 2011, Australia Galaxy Pageants has provided a platform for more than 570 girls and women to become the best versions of themselves through confidence-building, community involvement, advocacy, charity fundraising and personal development opportunities.
Mrs Perovic said Alexis’ commitment to the Australia Galaxy Pageants motto ‘be the best version of you’ reflected not only her personal growth, but also her passion for encouraging other young people to lead with compassion, courage and authenticity.
“Through Kindness Counts Alexis hopes to spark a ripple effect one act of kindness at a time,” she said.
“Her message is simple but deeply resonant - kindness is a choice we can all make every single day - and her commitment to service is already remarkable.
“Over the past few months, Alexis has completed more than 150 hours of volunteering, supporting a wide range of charities and community organisations.”
She said Alexis was also deeply passionate about youth mental health advocacy and committed to raising awareness, reducing stigma, and helping young people feel seen, supported, and empowered.
