HASLUCK MHR Tania Lawrence says a re-elected Albanese Labor Government will plant more trees across the City of Swan.
Ms Lawrence said the $190,000 election commitment would support the city’s urban forest plan, which aimed to increase tree canopy cover across the local government area.
She said urban forests improved air quality, reduced stormwater flows, made it cooler on hot days and increased liveability for the local community.
Some suburbs in the City of Swan, like Aveley, have less than 5 per cent canopy coverage, while others like Guildford have more than 20 per cent,’’ she said.
“Consistent with past practice, election commitments will be delivered in line with Commonwealth grants rules and principles.’’
Ms Lawrence said trees made suburbs healthier and more liveable by providing fresher air, shade from the hot sun and homes for native birds.
“A re-elected Albanese Labor Government will plant more trees across our community with $190,000 to support the urban forest plan.”
