LIBERAL candidate for Swan Hills Rod Henderson said an elected Liberal government would provide $500,000 to complete the RSL Memorial at the Ellenbrook District Open Space, along with a further $688,000 for nine community projects in the City of Swan.
He also pledged $688,000 over four years to assist the City of Swan to deliver nine community projects.
“The $500,000 RSL commitment will provide funding to finalise the project which has languished due to insufficient funding,” Mr Henderson said.
He said the RSL committee had waited for years to see a finished memorial, a place for reflection and remembrance throughout the year.
“With thousands that amass at the area to commemorate ANZAC Day we need to do better than a makeshift memorial erected each year, and the RSL needs to have a permanent presence in Ellenbrook,” Mr Henderson said.
“This place of remembrance is also a place to say thank you to all that have served across many conflicts. Lest We Forget.”
The nine City of Swan projects that will be funded are the Bullsbrook sporting club upgrades and renewal projects, renewal of the Bells Rapids picnic area, duel paths on Westgrove Drive and Henley Brook Avenue, a new footpath along Chardonnay Drive, Noble Falls playground replacement, shade sails on Brigadoon Park, tree planting on Egerton Drive, water fountains, including for dogs at West Road Park in Bullsbrook and Musselbrook Park in Ellenbrook.
“Support for these projects will assist the city to keep rates as low as possible and will also ensure that these projects are completed sooner rather than being pushed out until funding is available,” Mr Henderson said.
