Midland car yard vandalism charges

Three juveniles have been charged in relation to the vandalism of several vehicles across car yards in Midland which occurred at the end of April.

MIDLAND Police have charged three juveniles as a result of an investigation into the vandalism of several vehicles parked at car dealerships along Great Eastern Highway on Wednesday, April 30.

The damage occurred sometime between midnight and 1am.

Most of the vehicles vandalised were brand new and sustained significant damage to their exteriors, including smashed windscreens, headlights and dented panels.

Following a short, focused police investigation, with significant support and information from the local community, police located and arrested the juveniles in relation to the incident that same morning.

A 14-year-old female was charged with one count of criminal damage and one count of trespass, a 13-year-old female has been charged with two counts of criminal damage, two counts of trespass and two counts of stealing.

The pair are both due to appear before the Midland Children’s Court at a later date.

A 12-year-old male has been charged with two counts of criminal damage and two counts of trespass.

He was also charged with one count of assaulting a retail worker and one count of stealing for unrelated incidents that occurred in Bellevue on April 29.

He is due to appear before the Perth Children’s Court at a later date.

Two other juveniles aged 14 and 16 were referred to the juvenile justice team for trespassing.

“Midland Police are committed to reducing crime and officers take pride in serving the community in which they work and live in,” a police spokesperson said.
