SCHOOL holidays can be a time of adventure, rest, connection, and new experiences, but for some children, changes in routine, social pressures, or big emotions can make this period challenging.

The Midland Medicare Mental Health Kids Hub works to help families in the City of Swan navigate these moments with confidence.

Open throughout the school holidays (closed on public holidays), the kids hub provides a free, welcoming space where children and parents can feel supported, understood, and empowered.

Walk-ins are welcome, with no referral or appointment needed.

Families visiting the kids hub can access a wide range of support, and children and their parents can speak with care navigators who provide a listening ear and connection to a range of services, participate in workshops designed to build practical skills for managing emotions and behaviour, and connect with peer support from other parents.

The kids hub also offers therapeutic and educational tools, outreach services for support at home or another preferred location, and a safe on-site creche for children to play and learn while parents engage with the team (bookings required).

Whether children are feeling anxious, struggling with friendships, or managing big emotions, the hub provides guidance, reassurance, and practical strategies.

Parents experiencing emotional challenges can access tailored advice and a listening ear.

Workshops including yoga and mindfulness, help children build calm, confidence, and self-awareness in a fun, supportive environment, giving families tools they can use throughout the holiday season.

“School holidays offer wonderful opportunities for families to relax, connect, and explore new experiences, but they can also bring uncertainty and pressure,” Parkerville Children and Youth Care chief executive officer Kim Brooklyn said.

“The kids hub is a place for families to take a breath, access support, and find practical strategies that help children feel safe, understood, and confident.”

The Midland Medicare Mental Health Kids Hub will remain open throughout the school holidays and families can find up-to-date walk-in hours and service information on the website.
