WHILE the time from December to the end of January can be filled with fun and frivolity, for those experiencing family discord, isolation or mental health issues it can sometimes be fraught, lonely and distressing.
Midland Head to Health adult mental health centre is open from 10am to 8pm every day of the year, including all public holidays and weekends, for people experiencing mild to moderate mental health and emotional issues.
Located at 23 Old Great Northern Highway, it supports people in Perth’s north and east, including Swan, Kalamunda and Mundaring, with services provided at no cost.
Midland Head to Health is a free, community-based walk-in service – no referral, Medicare card or appointment is needed.
The centre is designed as a friendly, welcoming environment with a range of mental health professionals on hand to provide advice and support, along with assessment and short-to-medium-term treatment if needed.
Midland Head to Health manager Ruth Lawrence said the time leading up to and throughout Christmas and New Year can sometimes be really stressful. At the same time, many mental health providers are closed or have reduced hours.
“We are happy to be here providing free support every single day throughout this time for people in Perth’s east, so they can get the mental health and emotional support they need when they need it.
“Our staff are ready and waiting to have a chat – no appointment or referral needed.”
People can call Head to Health on 1800 595 212 Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5pm, including public holidays for a free confidential assessment and referral.
