MUNDARING’s Railway Reserve Heritage (RRH) Trail was rated number one in the people’s choice top 10 trails in WA.

Locals and visitors were welcome to cast their votes throughout autumn and Trails WA confirmed the results at the end of the season.

Trails WA started the people’s choice award last year as a way to celebrate the trails that inspired adventure connection and awe.

Trails WA Chair, Suzanne Hillier said the campaign highlighted the growing passion for trails across the state.

“Trails are more than just paths – they connect us to nature, history, and each other,” she said.

“We’re thrilled to see so many Western Australians share their love for the trails that mean the most to them.”

Collie, Albany, Dyandra Woodland, Kimberley and Pemberton were some of the other sites that made it to the list.

The RRH Trail website states the trail retraced 59km of the old Eastern Railway.

“Passing through reserves you will discover the individual history, story and character of the settlements that sprung up alongside the line,” it stated.

“The most western point to start your journey is from Bellevue where you can follow the old Eastern Railway lines either in a north or south direction of Great Eastern Highway.

“The two lines rejoin at Mount Helena forming a unique 41km loop entirely on railway formations before extending 18km east to Wooroloo Reserve.”

The trail is suitable for walkers and cyclers, with dogs on a lead welcome and horses can be ridden along the trail, except in national parks.
