IN good news for visitors to Lake Leschenaultia, Shire of Mundaring has identified a potential lessee to reopen the lakeside café-kiosk in Chidlow.

The shire has given public notice to lease the café to The Flackyard for three years and has called for feedback from residents and stakeholders by 4.30pm on Tuesday, June 4.

The present café-kiosk, Reflections, has been a feature of Lake Leschenaultia since its construction in 1961, offering meals and afternoon teas, plus takeaway food from a kiosk counter.

In December 2023, the shire called for expressions of interest for the lease, hoping to attract respondents from experienced catering operators.

At its May 2024 council meeting, the shire selected The Flackyard as the potential lessee, noting its background in offering special dining experiences from its restaurant of the same name in the Pinnacles, Queensland and its chef who formerly worked at the Wildflower and Fervor in WA.
