NOMINATIONS for candidates in the WA local government elections closed this week.
The Western Australian Electoral Commission said elections packages (including ballot papers, candidate information and how-to-vote information) will be sent out this month.
WA local government elections take place on Saturday, October 18.
They are usually conducted by post but a small number of local councils request to hold an in-person election.
All residents in a local government district who are enrolled on the state electoral roll are automatically enrolled on the corresponding local government roll.
People who own or occupy rateable property within a local government district, can apply to their local government to be included on the roll as an owner or occupier, as long as they are eligible electors.
In the City of Swan vacancies in the Altone ward (1 x two-year vacancy, two four-year vacancies), Pearce ward (two four-year vacancies), Midland Guildford ward (one four-year vacancy), Swan Valley Gidgegannup ward (one four-year vacancy) and Whiteman ward (one four-year vacancy) will be contested at the 2025 election.
The City of Swan council is represented by a mayor and 14 council members.
