THE new changerooms at Ray Owen Reserve are now complete, marking a key milestone in the $5 million Cook government redevelopment for the Kalamunda community.

The changerooms offer upgraded amenities for local players across a variety of sporting codes and cater to the growing needs of the local sporting community.

Future stages of the redevelopment, including an oval extension, upgrades to the existing oval, and floodlighting for both playing fields, are expected to be completed by mid-2026.

Kalamunda MLA Matthew Hughes said the project had been eagerly anticipated by the local community for some time.

“It is just wonderful to see the works complete. The new changerooms will improve accessibility and give more people a chance to get out and get active.”

Sport and Recreation Minister David Templeman said sporting complexes like Ray Owen Reserve were more than just facilities.

“They’re spaces where communities connect, thrive, and build a shared sense of belonging,” he said.

“This investment demonstrates our commitment to supporting grassroots sport and creating modern, inclusive facilities that cater to everyone in our community, from juniors to senior players.”

The investment is part of the broader $300m WA recovery plan package for sport and community infrastructure projects throughout the state.
