A PROPOSAL for a new North Parkerville subdivision application, set to be considered by the Shire of Mundaring, was withdrawn from the council’s agenda just one day before the meeting.
According to the shire’s chief executive officer Jason Whiteaker the “item was withdrawn to allow shire officers more time to provide a recommendation to council.”
The notice of the withdrawal of agenda item, 10.1 – North Parkerville subdivision proposal, was published on the shire’s website on Monday, February 12.
“We are continuing to work through the application and will have our assessment finalised for the council as soon as possible,” he said.
While it is unknown when the matter will be considered by the council, Mr Whiteaker said at the latest it will be presented at the ordinary council meeting on Tuesday, March 12.
“Depending on how staff progress with the assessment, it may be subject of a special council meeting,” he said.
The new application is for the land around Wedgetail Circle in Parkerville, which would see the area divided into 67 rural residential lots at a minimum of 2ha each, with some as large as 8ha.
The area was previously approved for urban residential development of 740 lots consisting of 640 dwellings, a commercial centre, tourism facilities and a public open space.
Originally the shire had until February 26 to respond to the Department of Planning, Land, and Heritage (DPLH) regarding the subdivision application, however it received an extension until after the March ordinary council meeting.
While subdivision applications are not required to provide any formal avenue for public consultation, the shire said it would collate any public comments it receives about the North Parkerville subdivision application and include them in its response to DPLH.
The response will also include its assessment of the application guided by its local planning scheme, strategy, and polices as well as the approved structure plan of the area.
