HIGH Wycombe teenager Tristian Wilson (15) has an impressive athletics record, with a string of achievements in recent years.
Tristian’s mother Kira Armstrong said Tristian, who is in Year 10 at Kalamunda Senior High School, attended Little Athletics at Belmont Athletics Centre and was coached by her partner Nathan Cunningham.
“We have always encouraged Tristian, who has always been interested in sport and athletics,” she said.
“Tristian has just competed for WA in South Australia and will be heading to Malaysia in July to represent WA in discus, javelin, shot put, short hurdles, long jump and relays.
“Having represented WA for the past three years, he is really looking forward to the new season and perhaps one day representing Australia.”
Tristian’s achievements this year include winning a gold medal for javelin at the Under-16 senior national championships and a bronze medal in the Little Athletics heptathlon.
He was also invited to the target talent program for Athletics Australia and named best Little Athletics male athlete of the 2023/2024 season, as well as being State champion in javelin, discus and shot put for five years in a row.
“Tristian has really enjoyed competing in the Athletics Australia training camp and has captained WA for the Australian Little Athletics Championships,” Ms Armstrong said.
She added that she and her partner were always looking at new ways of fundraising for Tristian every year, while trying to get him more exposure and hopefully attract permanent sponsors.
