THE second concert in the Summer Mozart festival series will be held at St Cuthbert’s Anglican Church, Darlington at 3pm on the public holiday Monday, January 27 which is Mozart’s exact birthday.
This concert explores Mozart’s visit to Naples in 1770, to absorb the latest trends in Italian opera.
The program features a rare instrumental work by Domenico Cimarosa (1749-1801), who was born in Naples and achieved renown as a master of the cantabile Italian vocal style.
Two of Mozart’s delightful quartets will be played.
The artists are flautist Emily Gunson, violinist Kylie Liang, violist Bourby Webster and cellist Isaac Davis.
The World of Mozart presented by W. A. Mozarteum celebrates Mozart and his world – taking a closer look at some of the places where Mozart lived, visited and worked, with insights into the artistic and social environments of London, Naples and Vienna.
A variety of Mozart’s music will be presented, from enchanting trios written in London by the eight-year-old, through to his ever popular Symphony no. 40 in G minor, alongside works by composers he met during his travels, and interspersed with entertaining readings from Leopold Mozart’s letters.
The first concert London Calling will be held at the Eileen Joyce studio, University of WA at 3pm on Saturday, January 25.
The third concert Timeless Masterpieces is at Callaway Auditorium, University of WA at 3pm on Sunday, February 2.
