SIGNIFICANT Swan Active Ellenbrook milestones have been achieved, with earthworks now complete and the tender for the centre’s construction released.

Earthworks began in February to prepare the site for construction, including digging the holes for the pools and levelling the site.

The centre would provide the Swan community with a regional-level aquatic and recreation facility in the heart of Ellenbrook, right near the newly opened Metronet train line.

From waterslides, pools and spas to a fitness centre, gym, wellness rooms and sports hall – plus all the outdoor facilities like BBQs and picnic areas – there will be something for everyone.

City of Swan Mayor Tanya Richardson said she was pleased to see the project speeding towards the construction phase and can’t wait to see it start to take shape.

“We promised this to the people of Ellenbrook and the entire Swan community, and with support from the state and federal governments, I am so thrilled that we are making great progress – next stop is construction,” she said.

Deputy Premier and West Swan MLA Rita Saffioti said it was great to see even more progress at the much-anticipated Ellenbrook pool.

“Now that we can see some tangible progress, like the ground being levelled, it makes the project real for the community, and the Metronet trainline is demonstrating how easy it will be to access the facility,” she said.

Swan Hills MLA Michelle Maynard said she was thrilled to be backing such a huge project that will bring vital facilities to a growing community.

“I’m proud to continue the work that has gone into delivering Swan’s largest aquatic and recreation facility – it is a welcome addition in one of our fastest-growing suburbs,” she said.
