HOSTED by Transition Town Guildford, the Really Really Free Market encourages people to bring along their everyday items to give away and help extend their life.

Organisers say the event is not a ‘dumping ground’ but a place to swap and share unwanted items with your community, and to find a new home for the things people no longer need.

“You can come to the market for free, and if anyone tells you that you need to pay money to participate, they are a scammer!” said a Transition Town spokesperson.

“You don’t have to bring items to the market to take items and everyone is welcome to participate.”

Organisers stressed everything not taken by somebody else should be removed by the owner at the end, with no bartering or exchange of goods or money.

Trestle tables will be provided to display items and organisers encouraged people to bring along whatever they wanted, ranging from books and toys to clothes.

If you are giving away an item that needs to be repaired, please label it “Needs repairs”.

Entirely run by volunteers, the Really Really Free Market will be held outside the Mechanic’s Institute at 20 Meadow Street, Guildford from 9am to 10am on Sunday, November 23.
