Three charged after robbery

MIDLAND detectives have charged three men as a result of their investigation into a robbery incident that occurred in Guildford on Saturday, January 11.

It will be alleged about 9.55pm, the accused entered a bottle shop on James Street and selected several items before attempting to exit the store without making payment.

Subsequently, it will be alleged when they were stopped by a female security guard a physical altercation ensued.

The woman in her 50s received serious head injuries and was conveyed by ambulance to Royal Perth Hospital for treatment.

The three males aged 18, 18, and 19 years, have been charged with aggravated robbery and will appear in court later this month.

STRIKE Force Vulcan officers are investigating the cause of a scrub fire in Ellenbrook on Wednesday, January 15.
The fire started about 12.50pm, within Musselbrook Park located on Musselbrook Trail.

Weather conditions caused the fire to spread quickly but the efforts of Department of Fire and Emergency Services personnel and residents enabled the fire to be extinguished before it reached nearby homes.

Officers are seeking to identify three people who were in the area about the time the fire started and who may have information to assist with the investigation.

Gidgegannup Strike Force Vulcan arrest

STRIKE Force Vulcan officers with the assistance of officers from Forrestfield Police, have charged a 38 year-old man after a bushfire in Gidgegannup on Thursday, January 16.

WA Police said it would be alleged that between 3.45am and 4.20am the man set fire in two areas of bushland in the vicinity of Toodyay and Aspen roads, Gidgegannup.

Department of Fire and Emergency Services personnel attended and extinguished the fire before it impacted on the lives, homes and businesses of people in the community.

The fire burnt more than 2ha of bushland.

The 38-year-old man from High Wycombe was charged with two counts of wilfully light or cause to be lit a fire likely to injure or damage – he was due to appear before the Midland Magistrates Court on Friday, January 17.

The offence carries a maximum penalty of 20 years imprisonment.

A police spokeswoman said timely information received from members of the public was a vital component of the investigation.
