DESPITE hot conditions and a violent afternoon thunderstorm, more than 200 motorcycles took part in the annual Harley-Heaven Christmas toy run last Sunday.

The riders all had one aim – to help spread Christmas cheer to families in need by donating toys and gift packs for various women’s shelters and youth shelters across Perth.

The toy run left from the Harley Davidson dealership Harley-Heaven in Midvale at 11am before finishing up at the Indi Bar in Scarborough where riders congregated for a beer and a yarn.

Toy run organiser Michael Crafter said he was impressed not only with the turnout considering the adverse conditions, but also the number of toys and gifts donated.

“We had a big poster up at Midland Gate and that attracted many public donations. We also raised about $20,000 from various donors and businesses which has really helped the cause,” he said.

Mr Crafter has spent much of the week delivering toys and gifts to needy children and families, as well as
organising donations to Parkerville Children and Youth Care (PCYC) and Midland’s Indigo Junction, among others.

To donate go to their gofundme.
