PARKERVILLE Children and Youth Care has officially launched The Kids Hub, WA’s first dedicated mental health and wellbeing service for babies and children aged 0-12 in the City of Swan.

This free service provides vital support for children experiencing mild to moderate developmental, emotional, behavioural, and mental health challenges.

Developed in partnership with Koya Aboriginal Corporation, Lifespan Psychology Centre, the Mental Illness Fellowship of Western Australia (MIFWA), and Pregnancy to Parenthood, The Kids Hub offers a holistic and inclusive approach to children’s mental health.

Families can access support without the need for a Medicare card, referral, diagnosis, or appointment, ensuring that every child receives the care they need, regardless of their circumstances.

Supported by the federal government’s Department of Health and Aged Care and the state government’s Mental Health Commission, the hub provides early intervention through personalised assessments, therapy, and support - all in a child-focused, inclusive, safe, and nurturing environment.

“Early intervention at the Kids Hub means supporting children and families at the first signs of mental health challenges. The goal is to address issues before they become more serious and provide children and families with tools to promote long-term wellbeing at home, school, and with social connections,” Parkerville’s chief executive officer Kim Brooklyn said.

The Kids Hub offers a comprehensive range of services to meet the diverse needs of children and their families, including on-site psychology, occupational therapy, counselling, and wellbeing workshops, along with assistance in connecting to other community services.

Later in 2025, the hub will expand to include a sensory playground and yarning circle, providing a dedicated space for children to play, talk, and connect.

“These additions will create spaces where children feel safe to express themselves and families can come together to find solutions to life’s challenges,” Ms Brooklyn said.

“We’re particularly proud of the yarning circle, which will provide a culturally safe space for Aboriginal children and families to share, connect, and heal.”

The Kids Hub is open Monday to Friday from 8am to 7pm and Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 3pm at The Stan and Jean Perron Child, Youth and Family Centre, 1 Watertank Way, Midland.

Walk-ins are encouraged, and no appointment is required.
