THE Whim Festival is back for its 10th year on Sunday, October 26, with music, food vans, market stalls, community displays, free family activities, and a chance to rediscover the town’s rich heritage.
The Mount Helena Residents and Ratepayers Progress Association organised event will run from 9am to 3pm at Pioneer Park with entertainment across multiple stages.
Festival goers can enjoy performances from the Eastern Hills Senior High School concert bands and guitar ensemble, the Mount Helena Primary School choir, and local acts including Ben Bulla, Fenton, and Blues Confusion.
Market Central will showcase a variety of community businesses and artisans, offering handmade crafts, niche festival items, and products from the surrounding area.
Attendees will have the chance to shop, discover treasures, and support small businesses from across the hills and Perth region.
Families can take part in the activities available at the Fun Zone, including art and craft workshops, face painting, games, and interactive experiences including the RAC Rescue Helicopter Experience.
A live mural will also be painted by Tay from Meraki Boho during the festival, celebrating local flora, fauna, and heritage, inspired by ideas and suggestions from the community.
Food and drink options will cater to every appetite, with a delicious range including burgers, Vietnamese dishes, barbecue meats, fried chicken, Asian street food, a sausage sizzle, paninis, coffee, ice cream, juice, and donuts to keep festival goers satisfied throughout the day.
The History Zone provides an opportunity for residents and visitors to reconnect with Mount Helena’s past.
Exhibits highlight the town’s rich heritage and invite everyone to explore its story.
Whim Festival marketing coordinator Owen Briffa said the festival was a celebration of coming together for the residents of Mount Helena.
