WEDGED between Midland and Middle Swan, the eastern suburb of Viveash will be getting six more social homes with the help of not-for-profit community housing provider Housing Choices WA.

The provider’s partnership with the state government will help to deliver homes which feature three bedrooms and two bathrooms in an area of high demand, a state government spokesperson said.

Design and building company Devplex has started construction, with the $2.6 million project expected to be completed in late 2026.

“Once completed, these six new homes will add to the more than 3100 homes already delivered since 2021,” the spokesperson said.

The grant allocated towards the Viveash social homes is part of WA’s $152.6m community housing new build grant which aims to build new social homes, upgrade existing homes and support the most vulnerable people in the community.

Housing and Works Minister John Carey said the government was doing everything it could to boost housing supply across WA and to grow the community housing sector across the state.

Midland MLA Steve Catania welcomed the state government’s announcement.

“I’m proud to be part of a government that is working incredibly hard on delivering much-needed housing in the metro area,” he said.

“These homes are a response to our community’s needs and will ensure that more locals can live securely and comfortably.”
