
THE senior male sides for Midland Guildford Cricket Club completed their first two-day match of the new year last weekend, while several other teams also produced good performances in other matches.
The opponents for the senior male teams were Wanneroo.
After winning the toss and bowling first, the male 1st grade were led by Hudson Knight, with three wickets for 69 runs, as the opposition posted 9-364.
The run chase was highlighted by Max Bittner scoring his maiden 1st grade century with 110 runs not out from 155 balls, with support from Hayden Kain who scored 53 from 136.
The match ended in a 105 run defeat as the side was bowled out for 259 runs.
It was a better result for the male 2nd grade after they won the toss and bowled first, as they bowled out their opponents for 162.
Josh Chitty was the standout performer taking 7-68 in the first innings, before taking 4-77 in the second innings to finish the match with 11 wickets.
The run chase was led by Hayden Collins as he scored 97 from 205 to help the team secure the victory.
The male 3rd grade match ended in a draw. Will Shackles, with 4-63, and Hunter Wills, with 79 from 148, were the standout performers for the side.
Despite the efforts of Matthew Hampson, with 4-53 and 49 from 95, and Lucas Walker, with 82 from 132, the male 4th grade were beaten by 19 runs in their match.
The female B grade were beaten by 31 runs, while the female U17 had a dominant victory against Wanneroo as they won by 127 runs.
Alyssa Tremlett scored 83 from 58 to help lead the side to a commanding total of 7-223 in the first innings.
It was a comprehensive bowling display from the side as they dismissed their opponents for just 96 in the win.
The male U14 were narrowly beaten by Bayswater Morley, while the male U13 secured a thrilling win by just three runs.
Thomas Foster scored 52 from 76 to help the side reach 5-168, before they restricted their opponents to 5-165 in the run chase.
There were some positive results for a number of the teams and it will be another important round of fixtures as it gets closer to the end of the season.
