GUILDFORD and Kalamunda Districts Swimming Club (GK) has been recognised as the leading swimming club in the country, securing the title of swimming club of the year 2025 at the Swimming Australia awards.

The national award, which acknowledges a club’s commitment to high standards, community involvement, and nurturing swimmers from beginners through to competitive athletes, was handed off at an award ceremony on November 15.

Having operated at Darling Ranges Sports College for more than 60 years since 1963, GK has been a constant presence in the local community, even winning the same swimming club of the year award back in 2023.

Swimming WA general manager Kirsty Read said the was a shiny example of what happens when a club puts people first.

“Their culture, inclusion and genuine community spirit has created an environment where every swimmer regardless of age, background or ability can thrive,” she said.

“Swimming WA is incredibly proud of the leadership they continue to show.”

The club hosts a range of programs to help promote water safety, skill development, and lifelong participation in swimming including a learn to swim program which helps swimmers learn from aged four and above.

The club also hosts competitive swimming programs and fitness squads for exercise.

GK committee member Lauren Kettle said she was proud of the group for their success in securing the coveted title.

“Being part of GK has been incredible for my child – the confidence, friendships and growth we’ve seen are remarkable,” she said.

“It’s fantastic to see the wider community recognise just how special this club is.

“We’re extremely grateful for our strong committee and our volunteers.

“With coach Craig’s leadership, the club is set to become even stronger.”
