THE Hills Raiders and the Kalamunda Eastern Suns will face each other in the last game of the regular season at Mundaring Arena this Sunday.

Both teams are equal on the ladder and have 42 points but the Kalamunda Suns have a 4 per cent better percentage, currently holding fourth position while the Hills Raiders sit in fifth.

Both teams are set to take part in the finals regardless of the match’s result as both have secured their spots in the top eight qualifiers.

Hills Raiders officer Shaun Bunting said the upcoming match was a game within a game as two of the overall leading total points scorers will compete for top spot.

“Raiders player Tyson Kelly is currently the overall leading total points scorer in the mens championship division and equal with the Suns player Jhye Stoker.

“Both are on 312 total points.

“Whoever out of these two, scores the most in this game, will finish the season on top.”

Mr Bunting said the Eastern Suns enjoyed the benefits of major sponsorship through their NBL1 West license which allowed them to recruit high-profile talent and strengthen their squad considerably.

“The Hills Raiders continue to defy the odds – operating without major sponsorship,” he said.

“The Raiders have built their success on resilience, grit, and an unrelenting team-first mindset under the stewardship of Coach Creek.

“His uncompromising standards and demand for accountability have forged a tight-knit group with complete buy-in – a Raiders team that hunts the ball, dismantling opponents who rely on individual star power.”

This season, the Raiders have claimed victories against several top teams, including Perry Lakes Hawks, East Perth Eagles, and Rockingham Flames, showcasing their ability to compete at the highest level.

Mr Bunting said Raiders fans were urged to rally behind their team at Mundaring Arena to create a fierce home-court advantage.

“Come Sunday, the Hills Raiders will prove that determination and teamwork can stand toe-to-toe with any giant,” he said.
