THE U13 Swan Hills Aces are heading to Queensland on July 6 to compete in Australia’s first little league championship and are calling for support at its fundraisers.

Head coach Tom Gee said the Aces was made up of 14 players who came from the little league all-stars and the development shield teams after the state championship at the Easter long weekend.

“We are very excited to take Aces back into the national competition,” Mr Gee said.

“The Aces came back last year as a result of increased junior participation at Kalamunda Rangers and the building relationship between Kalamunda and Swan Districts to develop a diamond sports pathway in the area.”

With the help of Swans Baseball, Mr Gee said the little league has been training hard twice a week at Charlie Hodder.

“There are a bit of nerves as the team comes together and gets more comfortable at training,” he said.

“Utilising the batting cages and lights, we are able to still work on skills with less daylight.”

Executive officer Bec Sajtinac said the club was hosting multiple fundraising events because the total travel fees for players and staff was about $50,000.

“We have had some amazing support from local businesses and companies,” Sajtinac said.

Sajtinac said a Domino’s dough raiser will be held at Swan View
and Kalamunda stores on May 30 and a Bunnings sausage sizzle on June 22.

Meanwhile Sajtinac said a money board has started where supporters can purchase a number for $20 and win cash.

The first prize is $300, second prize is $150 and third is $50.
