THE Mallards stole the spotlight with a thrilling 4-3 victory over the Moose on Sunday night – giving them their second win of the season.

The game was a nail-biter from start to finish, with unlikely hero, Madeleine Antill, firing an absolute lazerbeam from the blue line, surprising the goalie and spectators alike – tying the game up.

Andrew Cox opened the scoring, and from there on in, it was all Cox and Sean Hamilton – both scoring hattricks, with Hamilton winning it in overtime for the Mallards.

It’s great to see the Mallards getting it together after a rough start and this game was a testament to what the team can do.

We’re all still waiting for superstar Andrew Butler to find his place in the Mallards, but once he does, they’ll be a force to be reckoned with.

The start of the night saw the Beavers continue their dominance against the Outlaws in a high-intensity clash that was won 5-1.

The Beavers capitalised on a few defensive Outlaws mistakes, with their majority offensive play style proving too much.

Even the Beavers defensive face offs are set up for rebounding play.

It can be risky, but the Beavers seem to be able to back themselves on their ability to score, and for now, it seems to be working out for them.

Just before the Mallards victory, the Wolves faced the Grizzlies in a highly anticipated showdown.

The Wolves, who have been struggling to find their form this season, managed to turn the tables with an impressive 8-2 win.

While the Grizzlies were without Scott Hillier and Jordy Kyros, the Wolves were bolstered by the return of the Gordon brothers.

Their offensive prowess was on full display, with Finlay Gordon even taking the time to score a Michigan goal, leaving the underpowered Grizzlies struggling to keep up.

This Sunday, the Crusaders take on the Outlaws, the Wolves will face the Elk and the Grizzlies and Moose will round out the night.
