MIDLAND local Elias Abraha made his amateur debut at the Inception Fight Show on September 20.
Representing Mad Dog Martial Arts, the young athlete stepped into the cage for his first-ever Muay Thai contest.
Abraha faced Tony Zhang from Scrappy MMA in the division and secured the victory in their exciting contest.
Both fighters delivered an exciting amateur bout, giving the 18-year-old Abraha valuable competitive experience.
Though Mr Abraha felt composed entering the cage, he quickly discovered what his coach meant by an “adrenaline dump”
“I didn’t really get it until it happened,” Mr Abraha said.
“It was hard work, but fun – and I can’t wait to do it again,”
Mr Abraha said the win was an eye-opening experience that contributed significantly to his professional growth.
“It showed me what I’m good at and what I need to work on,” he said.
Mad Dog Martial Arts head coach Sir Slade praised the winning athlete’s efforts and attitude.
“Elias showed real heart out there. The first fight is always the biggest learning experience, and he handled it like a pro. We’re proud of him.”
The Inception event marked the start of a promising career for Mr Abraha, and a proud moment for Mad Dog Martial Arts and the local community.
