
THERE were some outstanding performances on the round three weekend for Midland Guildford Cricket Club with many teams enjoying success.
The senior male sides faced Subiaco-Floreat, with the male 1st grade producing a brilliant three wicket victory.
Captain Hudson Knight starred with an all-round display that saw him take four wickets for 50 runs from 10 overs in the first innings, before guiding the run chase with 83 runs from 68 balls.
He shared a 125-run partnership with Hayden Kain, with 66 from 90, as the side chased down the target of 255 to win with 21 balls remaining.
The male 2nd grade lost by 111 runs and the male 3rd grade lost by one wicket in a thrilling end to their match.
In the male 4th grade match, a complete team effort led to the side winning by just one wicket in the final.
The female B grade were victorious in both T20 matches they played during their double-header on Sunday, defeating Wanneroo by 10 wickets in a rain interrupted match, before winning comfortably by nine wickets against Perth.
In the female U17 T20 match against Joondalup, rain limited the run chase to 8.4 overs, but the side could still win by eight wickets with a target of just 69 to win being set for them at the beginning of the innings.
Against the same opposition, the female U14 set 6-104 from their 20 overs and defended the total by restricting their opponents to 6-85 in the second innings.
The male U14 and male U13 both played Wanneroo in their first matches of the season with the U14s posting 8-151 in 38 overs with Joseph Boyle top scoring with 66 from 77, restricting their opposition to 7-88 from 33 overs to win comfortably in the rain affected match.
The male U13 also had their match interrupted by rain with only 28 overs possible in the first innings, posting 2-98 before restricting their opposition to 8-95 to win a thrilling match by three runs with Karl Griasch starring with 5-19 from five overs.
The club looks set for another exciting round of fixtures with all sides hoping to build some strong momentum.
Meanwhile, during the preceding weekend, it was a successful return to action for Midland Guildford Cricket Club after almost all round one matches were abandoned due to rain.
The senior male sides played against Rockingham Mandurah on the weekend at home in 50 over fixtures, with the 1st grade asked to bat first by their opposition.
A dominant performance from Jordan Roads, with 90 runs from 120 balls, set the platform for the side to reach 5-256 from their 50 overs.
Contributions throughout boosted the total with Max Bittner scoring 60 not out from 51 to finish the innings.
Tom Gosling highlighted the bowling innings with four wickets for 47 runs from 9.4 overs as the side restricted their opponents to 213 all out from 45.4 overs, with the team producing a strong showing with the 43-run victory.
The male 2nd grade enjoyed a comfortable 64 run victory after scoring 6-212 in an innings led by efforts from Austin Thomas, with 50 from 63, and Harry Giancono with 54 from 79.
The bowling innings saw the side restrict their opposition to 148 all out with Ben Skinner, scoring 4-25 from ten overs, and Lennon Brookes, with 3-42 from ten overs, leading the attack.
In the male 3rd grade match, it was a thrilling finish that saw Tom Hayward, 53 not out from 54, hit the winning runs with just one ball remaining.
Mohit Malviya, 54 from 86, and Tom Southon, 45 from 71, also made important contributions in chasing down the target of 180 for victory.
Daniel Barrington scored 74 from 102 for the male 4th grade as they set their opponents a target of 203 for victory.
They defended the score by 19 runs with Jack Markham taking 3-25 from nine overs in the win.
The female A grade began their season with a 12-run victory in their T20 match against Perth, making 7-119 from their 20 overs and restricted their opponents to 6-107.
Makayla Hendry took 3-26 from four overs and Kaitlyn Magistro took 2-16 from four overs in her debut.
It was a strong showing from the female A grade in their T20 match against Perth with a 55-run victory. Justine Hayward-Janney scored 34 not out from 33 to lead the side to 3-121 from their 20 overs.
They bowled out their opponents for a total of 66 with Sharna Abbott’s 3-7 from 3.2 overs and Jishnu Gundeboina’s 4-15 from four overs being the leading bowlers.
The male U17 managed a thrilling three run win in their T20 match against Rockingham Mandurah as they defended their score of 5-105 by bowling out their opponents for 102.
In the male U15 T20 match against the same opponents, Lachie Flux top scored with 59 not out from 66 to lead the team to 3-118.
They would defend the total by restricting their opposition to 7-102 with Kyle Taylor taking 3-14 from four overs.
The female U17 fell short in their T20 match against Perth by 32 runs.
Their opponents scored 7-116, while they reached 7-84 in the second innings.
Guildford’s momentum remains unbroken as the season continues with a strong start and continued successes on the field during its most recent matches.
