MIDLAND Guildford Cricket Club senior female sides and a number of junior teams were the focus of the matches played during this weekend.
The female A grade played Melville at home and after losing the toss were asked to bowl first.
Elle White was the standout bowler with 4-8 from four overs, while Shay Manolini (2-4 from four overs) and Holly Catania (2-31 from four overs) also made important contributions.
They would restrict their opponents to 9-64 from 20 overs before beginning their chase with Naomi Dattani (19 runs not out from 29 balls) and Chloe Piparo (17 from 11) producing a strong opening stand.
Ruby York scored 19 from 13 to help the side to chase the target with five wickets remaining and 9.3 overs to spare.
In the match played by the female B grade against Wanneroo, the side was also asked to bowl first after losing the toss.
Kiara Smart (3-18 from four overs) and Taryn Schuster (2-15 from four overs) were the biggest contributors to the bowling effort that restricted their opposition to 9-101 from 20 overs.
Lily May-Lyndon (37 from 39) and Justine Hayward-Janney (20 not out from 19) were the top scorers as the team chased down the target with six wickets in hand and 32 balls remaining.
The female U17 side managed a victory against Wanneroo in their latest match.
Sharna Abbott took three wickets for 16 runs from four overs while Zoe Tickner took 2-11 from three overs in the win.
They restricted their opposition to 6-112 from 20 overs, before chasing the target in 17.5 overs with Rebekah Farr being the top scorer with 32 from 18.
The side was 6-68 before contributions from Tiffany Exell (13 not out from 17), Caitlin Beck (15 from 12) and Zoe Tickner (11 not out from 11) helping to secure the victory with three wickets to spare.
Both the male U14 and male U13 were defeated by Bayswater Morley with few standout performers in either of the sides.
There will be a number of matches played this weekend with some teams finishing games while others begin a new round of fixtures.
