THE Midland Guildford male 4th grade finished the 2024-2025 season on a high note by winning their grand final against Wanneroo at Lark Hill Sportsplex.

After winning the toss and batting first, it was a slow and challenging start to the innings with the side managing a score of 1-47 after 24 overs at the lunch break.

The scoring continued after lunch before the total was 2-120 after 53 overs at the tea break, with Jaxon Ozanne being dismissed in the session for 36 runs from 69 balls.

Shortly after play resumed, captain Matthew Hampson was dismissed for 30 from 73 and Oliver Voorn produced a handy contribution of 24 from 27.

When his wicket fell, the score was 4-163 before a 46-run partnership shared by Daniel Barrington and Kobe Fernie (31 from 53) moved the total beyond the 200 mark.

Barrington was dismissed after making a vital 74 from 202 after opening the batting, and lower order contributions helped the side set a total of 9-265 from 80 overs.

As the second innings began on day two of the match, a fast start from the Wanneroo openers saw the score at 0-87 before Ethan Ozanne managed a vital breakthrough in the final over before the lunch break.

Another wicket for Ozanne after the break saw the total now 2-89 and the
momentum shifted. A succession of wickets saw the score reduced to 6-155 at the tea break.

Ashley Mucciarone was finally
rewarded after the break for his remarkable spell as he took a pair of wickets to finish with figures of 2-60 from 28 overs.

Hampson would finish with 2-48 from 14 overs and Ozanne took 3-47 from 14 overs. Matthew Barrington took the final two wickets and produced a spell of 3-29 from 10 overs.

It was an impressive season from the male 4th grade side and it was capped off in impressive style with a 74-run victory after bowling out their opponents for a total of 191 runs.

Daniel Barrington was named the player of the match for his impressive display of resilient batting that anchored the
