
MIDLAND Guildford cricket club saw an equal number of losses and wins in the latest weekend of matches.
The senior male sides played against South Perth in one-day matches.
It was a close match for the male 1st grade as they batted first after winning the toss.
Jordan Roads led the team to posting 9-239 from their 50 overs with his score of 71 runs from 69 balls.
In the second innings, Nathan Barnwell, with 2-40 from 10 overs, and Brayden Brehaut, with 2-43 from 10 overs, were key contributors to defending the target and restricting the opposition to 8-233 in a six-run victory.
The result secured the side’s position in the finals for 50 over matches this season.
The male 2nd grade and male 3rd grade sides were both beaten in their matches, while the male 4th grade won by five wickets with the winning runs being scored off the penultimate delivery of the match, with Oli Voorn being the top scorer with 50 from 61.
The female A grade side were defeated by eight wickets in their match against Subiaco Floreat, while the female B grade had their match against Rockingham Mandurah abandoned.
In the male U17 match, it was a comfortable six wicket victory against Melville with Cooper Forsyth top scoring in the chase of 184 with an unbeaten 100 runs from 101 balls.
Mohit Malviya also scored 61 from 88 as the side posted 4-248 in their batting innings.
The male U15 were beaten in their match against the same opponents.
A strong performance from the female U17 in their match against Subiaco Floreat saw them victorious by eight wickets.
They restricted their opponents to 6-98 and chased the target with 10 balls to spare.
It is an exciting round of fixtures this weekend as two-day cricket begins for the senior male teams, while the male 1st grade looks to reach another grand final this season.
